KĘSTAS RIMDŽIUS x GINGER TAIL: From Friendship to Runway

KĘSTAS RIMDŽIUS x GINGER TAIL: From Friendship to Runway

This autumn, Lithuanian fashion took center stage not only at Vilnius Fashion Week, but also at Riga Fashion Week, where designer and stylist Kęstas Rimdžius - founder of Kukla Beauty Box and one of the country’s leading fashion creatives - presented his latest collection. With over 15 years of experience in the premium fashion segment, Kęstas has built a name synonymous with modern elegance, precision, and  perfect taste.

For this collection, I had the pleasure and honor to collaborate with him through my jewellery brand GINGER TAIL - a creative meeting that turned into something truly special.

A Creative Reunion

Kęstas and I have known each other for over 15 years. Our creative paths have crossed many times, and this collaboration felt like coming full circle. More than a decade ago, Kęstas created collections for the fashion stores Decolte I co-owned, and already then his vision, attention to detail, and passion for aesthetics stood out. Working together again after all these years was both exciting and deeply rewarding - like reconnecting old artistic threads in a completely new form. Funny fact, that the first photo in Kęstas’s Instagram is me with crazy haircut and a title about creativity and inspiration :)

Designing Beyond Accessories

Our collaboration was not about simply adding jewellery to a collection. It was about creating pieces specifically designed for Kęstas’s vision - jewellery that became an integral part of the clothes themselves.

I created custom elements such as buttons, zipper accents, and jewellery pieces - including bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings - all handmade in silver, bronze, and gold, together with gemstones. Each piece was made with care and intention, transforming traditional accessories into wearable art.

The standout pieces?

Oversized handmade buttons that double as brooches for coats, hammered by hand and gold-plated to capture both delicate form and luxury. For jackets, I designed intricate wire twisted into symbolic knots - each representing connection, unity, and continuity. These details transformed each look into a story.

Even some necklaces were sewn into clothes or designed to wear on coats, merging fashion and jewellery into a single statement. Together, we wanted to suggest this as a new trend for the upcoming season - where accessories and garments exist as one whole creation.

The Collaboration

Working with Kęstas was an inspiring process. He is not only a true professional and perfectionist, but also someone who constantly pushes creative boundaries. His vision for the Kukla Beauty Box collection demanded innovation, quality, and artistic integrity - all values that resonate deeply with the Ginger Tail philosophy.

The synergy between our aesthetics brought something fresh and unexpected to the runway - a dialogue between fashion and jewellery.

Interesting Facts About Our Collaboration

We actually spent monthes working closely on this collection - from early sketches and material sourcing to late-night video calls discussing the tiniest details of a button or wire twist.

Some of the wire knots took hours to perfect each, making every piece truly unique and full of craftsmanship.

While creating the oversized buttons, I accidentally hammered one so much it became almost a tiny sculpture - and that one made it into the final collection!

Our work sessions often involved sharing music playlists to stay inspired, it really helped set the mood for creativity.

Even during fittings, Kęstas and I would debate whether a necklace should hang longer or be a tighter fit, showing how much attention we give to every detail.

From the first minute, Kęstas and I agreed to always be honest with each other about our creations. It helped a lot - the good feedback inspired us, and the constructive criticism made the work even better.

The dream team

I wish everyone who are working together to have such people like these who are surrounding Kęstas. Everyone a true warrior, helping in a minute you ask for it. All misunderstandings had been solved asap. Greetings to all of you and happy to have new friends.

Spotlight and Recognition

Both Vilnius Fashion Week and Riga Fashion Week gave us a stage to share this collaboration with the world. The collection drew significant attention from international media, stylists, and fashion enthusiasts who appreciated the detail and craftsmanship behind every look.

And especially our clients, who came out to support us at both events - your energy truly made a difference!

The experience was a celebration of creativity  - proof that when design, fashion, and jewellery meet with purpose, they can tell a story far more powerful than either could alone.

It was really special,

Laura
